60-Year-Old Dies After Accidentally Touching Electrified Farm Device
Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh — A 60-year-old farmer lost his life after accidentally coming in contact with a high-voltage electric shock machine set up in an agricultural field in Singhni village on Thursday, according to local police officials. The deceased, identified as Hariram alias Sailha, had ventured out early in the morning to graze his goats. While walking through a nearby field, he inadvertently touched the electric device, which had been installed by a farmer, Awadhesh Pratap Singh, as a crop protection measure.
"The machine was carrying a powerful electric current. Hariram came in contact with it and died instantly," said Station House Officer (SHO) Narad Muni Singh.
Authorities responded quickly, with a Dial 112 emergency team and local police reaching the spot. Hariram’s body has been taken into custody and is being sent for postmortem examination.
The incident has raised concerns over the use of such high-voltage shock devices in agricultural fields, especially in areas accessed by locals and livestock.
