On Thursday, Srinagar, May 15 – National Conference (NC) chief Farooq Abdullah stated that expecting immediate transformation in Jammu and Kashmir is unrealistic, highlighting that the region’s developmental setbacks over the past decade cannot be reversed overnight.

While addressing a public gathering in Reshi Gund, Kralpora in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, Abdullah emphasized that the Omar Abdullah-led government, which took charge last year, has laid the foundation for a transformative era of governance. He stressed the need for active citizen engagement to shape effective policies and sustainable development.

“No Magic Solution” to Undo Years of Hardship

“The government's mandate spans five years, and it is unrealistic to expect a newly formed administration to transform the region overnight,” Abdullah said. “The developmental setbacks our region has endured over the past decade cannot be reversed in mere moments; there is no magic solution.”

He acknowledged the hardships the people of Jammu and Kashmir have faced over several decades and reiterated the government’s commitment to fulfilling the promises in the NC manifesto.

Collaborative Governance at the Core

Farooq Abdullah underlined the NC government's inclusive approach, asserting that despite holding an absolute majority, the administration is not indulging in unilateral decision-making.

“On the contrary, there is a strong commitment to inclusivity, ensuring that all voices are heard before policies are formulated,” he stated. “With this collaborative approach, I am confident that our region will regain its momentum. Our citizens will soon experience significant improvements across all fronts.”

He added that the ongoing efforts and public participation have set the region on a clear path to overcoming long-standing challenges and achieving developmental goals.
