Kupwara, May 15: NC Government Committed to Long-Term Growth, Says Former CM

National Conference (NC) chief Farooq Abdullah on Thursday urged citizens not to expect an overnight transformation in Jammu and Kashmir, noting that the developmental setbacks of the past decade require time and collective effort to address.

Speaking at a public gathering in Reshi Gund, Kralpora, in north Kashmir's Kupwara district, Abdullah highlighted the challenges his party-led administration faces in reversing years of stagnation. The NC government, led by Omar Abdullah and formed last year, is focused on driving a new era of governance that values transparency and citizen engagement, he said.

"No Magic Wand to Reverse a Decade of Setbacks"

“The government’s mandate spans five years, and it is unrealistic to expect a newly formed administration to transform the region overnight,” Abdullah remarked. “The developmental setbacks our region has endured over the past decade cannot be reversed in mere moments; there is no magic solution.”

He acknowledged the prolonged hardships faced by the people of Jammu and Kashmir and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to fulfilling every promise made in the party manifesto.

Inclusive Governance and Collaborative Approach

Abdullah stressed that despite the NC enjoying an absolute majority in the legislature, the party remains dedicated to inclusive governance. “We are not taking unilateral decisions,” he said. “On the contrary, there is a strong commitment to inclusivity, ensuring that all voices are heard before policies are formulated.”

He underlined the importance of public participation in shaping governance, calling it essential for long-term progress. “With this collaborative approach, I am confident that our region will regain its momentum. Our citizens will soon experience significant improvements across all fronts,” Abdullah concluded.

The remarks reflect the NC's approach to governance, aiming to balance urgency with realism while seeking meaningful public involvement in Jammu and Kashmir’s path to recovery and growth.
