Thrissur, Kerala, March 7: A tragic accident claimed the lives of a 42-year-old man and his 11-year-old daughter after their car crashed into a tree near Koratty in Thrissur district early Friday morning.
The deceased were identified as Jaimon (42) and his daughter Joyna (11), both residents of Kothamangalam in Ernakulam district. According to the police, the accident occurred around 6 AM while the family was travelling towards Palakkad.
Three other passengers in the vehicle, identified as Jaimon's wife Manju (38), their son Joyel (13), and a relative Alan (17), suffered minor injuries. They were immediately taken to a private hospital in Koratty for treatment.
Initial police investigations revealed that the vehicle overturned after crashing into the tree. Authorities suspect that the accident may have resulted from the driver, Jaimon, possibly falling asleep at the wheel, although further investigations are ongoing.
Police officials are continuing to probe the circumstances surrounding the accident to ascertain the exact cause.
