Mumbai, March 3 – Tanaji Shinde, the father of Nilam Shinde, an Indian woman critically injured in a tragic accident in the United States, has reached California to be by his daughter's side. Nilam, 35, is currently battling for her life at the UC Davis Medical Center near Sacramento, California, after being struck by a speeding vehicle on February 14.

Nilam's maternal uncle, Sanjay Kadam, confirmed on Monday that her father had left Mumbai on March 2 and immediately visited the hospital upon arrival. Kadam said, "Nilam’s father flew from Mumbai to the US on March 2 and immediately after landing there, rushed to the UC Davis Medical Center near Sacramento in California."

Tanaji Shinde was accompanied from Mumbai by Kadam's son, Gaurav, who works for an IT firm in Pune. They arrived at the hospital, where Nilam remains comatose, suffering severe fractures to her legs, left arm, and skull, as well as a traumatic brain injury.

According to Kadam, medical authorities at the UC Davis Medical Center will hold a crucial meeting on Tuesday morning to discuss and decide on the future course of treatment.

Nilam last saw her father in February last year in Satara, Maharashtra, after her mother’s demise. She holds a Bachelor's degree in computer science from Savitribai Phule Pune University and had completed her postgraduate studies in data analytics at San Jose State University in California.

The family continues to await updates from the hospital, hoping for signs of improvement in Nilam's critical condition.
