Equipment and Records Damaged in Blaze; Short Circuit Suspected
Korba, May 15 — A fire broke out on the second floor of the Rani Dhanraj Kunwar Community Health Centre in Chhattisgarh's Korba city on Thursday morning, prompting an emergency evacuation. Authorities confirmed that no casualties occurred during the incident.According to Block Medical Officer Dr Deepak Raj, smoke was first noticed billowing from the second floor of the health centre, following which the fire brigade was immediately alerted. Quick action by the fire services and use of in-house fire extinguishers helped bring the flames under control.
"The fire was swiftly contained with water and the hospital’s own extinguishers," Dr Raj said, adding that all patients were safely evacuated as a precaution.
Preliminary observations suggest that a short circuit in equipment stored on the second floor may have triggered the blaze. However, the exact cause and the full extent of the damage are yet to be determined.
The fire resulted in the destruction of some medical equipment and hospital records. Officials are conducting further investigations to assess the losses and ensure preventive measures for the future.
