
Kolkata, February 10 A fire broke out in an unoccupied room of a building housing administrative offices in the Alipore area of Kolkata on Tuesday, officials said.
Five fire engines were deployed to extinguish the flames that were spotted in a room on the fourth floor around 8:45 am, they said.
The building houses several departments of the South 24 Parganas district administration.
The fire was brought under control within an hour, and there were no reports of any injuries, a fire brigade official said.
Since office hours had not yet begun, no major evacuation operation was required, he added.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
