Peshawar, Feb 28 – A tragic incident unfolded in northwest Pakistan’s Bannu district when a mortar shell struck a house, leaving five family members, including four minors, injured, local police confirmed on Friday.

The shell exploded upon impact, causing injuries to 65-year-old Shah Jameer and four children, all aged six or below. The blast occurred in the Bannu district, which shares a border with North Waziristan in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Rescue teams swiftly transported the injured to Khalifa Gul Nawaz Hospital, where medical authorities confirmed that all victims are in stable condition and out of danger.

While the source of the mortar shell remains unclear, security forces are investigating the incident. The region has previously witnessed sporadic violence due to its proximity to conflict-prone areas.

Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious, and further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
