Balrampur, Uttar Pradesh, May 15 – A devastating road accident on the Balrampur-Tulsipur National Highway claimed the lives of five members of a family and left eight others seriously injured late Wednesday night, according to local police.

The tragic incident occurred near Chakwa village when a car carrying the victims was returning from a wedding function. A speeding truck collided with the vehicle with such force that five occupants died instantly.

Police officials confirmed that the injured were immediately rushed to the District Memorial Hospital in Balrampur for urgent medical attention. The condition of several victims remains critical.

Following the accident, District Magistrate Pawan Agarwal and Superintendent of Police Vikas Kumar visited the hospital to oversee treatment arrangements. Authorities have been directed to ensure that the best possible medical care is provided to the injured.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his sorrow over the accident and extended his condolences to the bereaved family. In a statement shared by the Chief Minister's Office on X, he also wished a swift recovery for those injured and instructed district officials to provide all necessary support.

The accident has once again raised concerns about road safety and the dangers posed by high-speed traffic on highways, especially during late-night hours. An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the collision.
