Maharashtra, May 19 — A tragic accident in Ratnagiri district claimed the lives of five individuals and left two others injured when a speeding car veered off the road and plunged into the dry bed of the Jagbudi River early Monday morning.

Accident Near Khed Around 5:45 AM​

According to police, the incident occurred near Khed at approximately 5:45 AM. The vehicle, en route to Devrukh from Nallasopara in Palghar district, reportedly hit a divider before tumbling into the riverbed.

The impact of the fall was severe as the car crashed into boulders due to the river being dry at the time. Officials confirmed that several occupants died on the spot as a result of the crash.

Victims Identified​

The deceased have been identified as:
  • Mitali Vivek More (43)
  • Megha Paradkar (22)
  • Saurabh Paradkar (22)
  • Nihar More (19)
  • Shreyas Sawant (23)
Two other passengers sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Ratnagiri.

Swift Rescue Response​

Personnel from Khed police station responded promptly to the scene and carried out a rescue operation. The official noted that investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.

A case is being registered at the Khed police station as authorities continue their probe.
