Tadipudi (Andhra Pradesh), Feb 26: A tragic incident unfolded in Tadipudi village, East Godavari district, on Wednesday morning when five young men drowned in the Godavari River while taking a bath before heading to a nearby temple for the Maha Shivaratri festival.
According to police officials, a group of 12 men ventured into the river around 8:30 AM. However, five of them were swept away, while the remaining seven managed to survive. Most of the victims were reportedly under 20 years old.
Rescue efforts are currently underway, with police, fire services, and local residents collaborating to recover the bodies. Authorities are urging people to exercise caution while entering the river, especially during festival times when large gatherings are common.
