Chandigarh, April 4 – Flight Lieutenant Siddharth Yadav, who tragically lost his life in the Jaguar fighter jet crash near Gujarat’s Jamnagar IAF station, was laid to rest with full military honours in his native Majra Bhalkhi village in Haryana’s Rewari district on Friday.
The 28-year-old pilot, recently engaged and preparing for his wedding in November, died during a night training mission on Wednesday when the aircraft faced a technical malfunction. He was commissioned into the Indian Air Force as a fighter pilot in 2020.
A Hero's Farewell
Yadav’s mortal remains reached Rewari and were then taken to his ancestral village, where a large crowd gathered to pay their final respects. Among them were ex-servicemen holding the national flag, local residents, IAF officers, and government officials. As the funeral procession moved through the village, people showered flower petals in tribute to the fallen officer.The Indian Air Force performed ceremonial rites, including a gun salute, as his body was consigned to flames. Emotions ran high as his family, friends, and well-wishers bid a tearful goodbye.
A Legacy of Service
Hailing from a family with a proud tradition of military service, Yadav followed in the footsteps of his father Sushil Yadav, a former IAF personnel, and his grandfather and great-grandfather, both of whom served in the Indian Army. Following the crash, the Indian Air Force confirmed that the Jaguar two-seater aircraft crashed during a night sortie due to a technical issue. Both pilots onboard attempted ejection. While one pilot survived and is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Jamnagar, Flight Lieutenant Yadav succumbed to his injuries.In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), the IAF said:

IAF deeply regrets the loss of life and stands firmly with the bereaved family.”
