AAI Revokes NOTAM, Clears Way for Civilian Flights

Srinagar, May 12 – Normal flight operations at Srinagar International Airport are set to resume from Tuesday, following the Airports Authority of India's (AAI) decision to lift restrictions that were imposed last week amid heightened military tensions between India and Pakistan.

The AAI, in coordination with other aviation authorities, had earlier issued Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) that temporarily shut down 32 airports across northern and western India as a precautionary measure. The revocation of these NOTAMs marks a return to routine air travel in the region.

Airlines Prepare for Full-Scale Operations

An official confirmed on Monday that the Srinagar airport is now fully prepared to handle regular civilian flights.

"Aerodrome closure NOTAM has been revoked and the Srinagar airport is ready to facilitate flight operations," the official stated.

In response to the backlog caused by the shutdown, airlines have begun planning additional services. SpiceJet is set to operate extra flights to manage the accumulated passenger load and restore normalcy.

Haj Flights Also Affected

The suspension had impacted Haj flight services from Srinagar, disrupting schedules for pilgrims departing from the Kashmir Valley. With the reopening, those services are expected to resume as well.

The resumption of flights is expected to ease travel disruptions and bring relief to passengers stranded due to the temporary shutdown.
