BJP Pays Tribute to Pulwama Attack Martyrs

Leaders of the BJP in Jammu and Kashmir honored the 40 CRPF personnel killed in the 2019 Pulwama attack with tributes at Lethpora.

Feb 14, Srinagar: The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Jammu and Kashmir unit paid tribute to the 40 CRPF personnel killed in the Feb. 14, 2019, terror attack at Lethpora in Pulwama district, today.

Party leaders and workers, led by spokesperson Altaf Thakur, offered floral tributes at the attack site in Lethpora and observed a two-minute silence in memory of the slain personnel. Slogans were raised in honor of the martyrs, and solidarity was expressed with their families.

Tourists from different states also joined the ceremony, paying homage to the fallen personnel.

On Feb. 14, 2019, a suicide bomber rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into a bus carrying personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force in Pulwama district, killing 40 troopers in one of the deadliest attacks on security forces in the region.

Addressing the gathering, Thakur said that since the attack, India has adopted what he described as a firm and decisive approach against terrorism. He said security forces have intensified operations against terrorists and expressed confidence that the fight against terrorism would reach its final phase by 2026.

Referring to India’s response after the attack, he said the country carried out counterterror operations, including strikes across the border, to send a strong message to those backing terrorism.
