New Delhi, May 19 — Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri will provide a detailed briefing to a parliamentary committee on Monday regarding the recent India-Pakistan military tensions following the Pahalgam terror attack.
According to sources, the session is scheduled for 4 pm and will focus on developments surrounding Operation Sindoor, an Indian military operation launched in retaliation to the Pahalgam terror incident. The operation triggered a series of cross-border military actions between the two nations, which came to a halt after a mutual agreement was reached on May 10 to cease hostilities.
The briefing will take place before the Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs, chaired by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor. Misri is expected to cover key aspects of India's foreign policy with respect to Pakistan, and the evolving diplomatic dynamics in the region. The committee will continue discussions on the topic through Monday and Tuesday.
In a parallel development, the Parliamentary Committee on Water Resources, led by BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy, will be briefed by various departmental officials on critical issues related to the upcoming monsoon. These include flood scenarios, riverbank protection, cross-border river challenges, soil erosion, and relief measures.
Additionally, the government has decided to dispatch all-party delegations to 33 major global capitals. These teams will engage with international leaders to convey India’s firm stance against terrorism and highlight the context and objectives of Operation Sindoor.
