Noida, February 26 – A 36-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly attacking his former employer, an elderly woman, with a sharp object in Noida’s Sector 36 over a long-standing salary dispute, police said.
The accused, identified as Mahendra from Amethi, had previously worked as a domestic help at the victim’s residence but left the job in 2017 following a dispute over a salary hike. According to police, the woman sustained minor injuries in the attack.
Jitendra Kumar Singh, in charge of the Sector 39 police station, stated that the victim's daughter-in-law, Binu Kakkar, lodged a complaint on Tuesday night. She reported that an unidentified man attacked her mother-in-law while she was alone at home.
Following the complaint, police launched an investigation and arrested Mahendra. During interrogation, he admitted to having worked in the household until 2016 but left after disagreements regarding his wages.
"Mahendra visited the house on Tuesday, found the elderly woman alone, and attacked her," Singh added.
Police have registered a case, and further investigation is underway.
