Four Arrested for Moral Policing in Bengaluru's Chandra Layout

Woman Harassed for Interacting With Youth From Different Community; Police Take Swift Action

Bengaluru, April 11 – Four individuals, including a juvenile, have been arrested for moral policing in the Chandra Layout area of Bengaluru, a senior police official confirmed on Friday.

The incident came to light when a Burqa-clad woman was reportedly sitting on a scooter with a youth, prompting members from her own community to confront her. According to DCP West S Girish, the confrontation stemmed from the woman's interaction with someone from a different community.

“We have received a complaint from the woman based on which we have registered a case. We have arrested four people, including a juvenile,” said DCP Girish while addressing the media.

He clarified that no violence was involved in the incident. However, the police have taken the matter seriously and launched a thorough investigation to address the harassment and prevent such incidents in the future.

The arrests underline Bengaluru Police’s zero tolerance approach toward moral policing and social intimidation, regardless of community or background.
