CCTV Footage Leads to Swift Arrests; Weapons and Vehicle Seized
Muzaffarnagar, April 1 — Four individuals, including a police constable, have been arrested in connection with a firing incident that took place on March 28 at Sangam Hotel, located along the Delhi-Dehradun National Highway in Muzaffarnagar.The arrests were made late Monday night, following a swift investigation led by the New Mandi Police. Circle Officer Rupali Rao confirmed the identities of the accused as Nishant Balyan — a police constable currently posted in Lucknow — along with Shivam Balyan, Vikran Balyan, and Ashvani Balyan. CCTV footage from the hotel premises played a key role in identifying the suspects.
During the operation, police recovered two pistols and an SUV believed to have been used during the incident.
Confrontation Over Food Led to Gunfire
According to the complaint filed by hotel owner and local BJP leader Nitish Malik, the four accused were allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. The confrontation reportedly began over a dispute related to food service and escalated when the men opened fire and issued threats to Malik and his hotel staff.Authorities have confirmed that a detailed investigation is currently underway to further examine the motives and circumstances surrounding the incident.
