Four Killed as Car Collides with Truck on Kanpur-Sagar Highway in Uttar Pradesh

In a tragic incident on Friday, four devotees returning from the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj lost their lives after their car collided with a truck on the Kanpur-Sagar highway near Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh.

The deceased have been identified as Naresh Nagar (35), Awadhesh Nagar (35), Bhura Gurjar (35), and Pooja Nagar (23), all residents of Madhya Pradesh. The accident occurred in the early hours of Friday near Bara Nala within the jurisdiction of Srinagar Kotwali police station, Mahoba district.

Superintendent of Police Palash Bansal stated, “Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver possibly fell asleep at the wheel, causing the vehicle to drift into the opposite lane and collide head-on with an approaching truck.”

Three of the victims died instantly at the accident scene, while Pooja Nagar succumbed to her injuries later at the district hospital. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and police have initiated a detailed investigation into the incident.

This unfortunate incident has highlighted the dangers of driver fatigue, especially during night travel on busy highways. Authorities continue to urge caution and proper rest breaks for motorists undertaking long journeys.
