Sukma, February 27: Security forces in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district arrested four Naxalites and seized explosive materials meant for targeting patrolling personnel, officials confirmed on Thursday.
The Maoist operatives had allegedly planned to plant explosives in the Chintalnar region to ambush security forces during their routine operations. Acting on intelligence inputs, a joint team comprising personnel from the 74th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the district force carried out an area domination operation, leading to the arrests on Tuesday.
The detained individuals—Rava Hadma (28), Vetti Aayta (30), Barse Bheema (25), and Madkam Kosa (42)—were identified as active militia members of the Maoist outfit. All hail from Morpalli village in the region, police officials stated.
During the operation near a forested hill in Ravguda village, security forces recovered a cache of explosives, including 15 gelatin rods, two electronic detonators, eight non-electronic detonators, 12 meters of cordex wire, a command switch, Maoist propaganda pamphlets, and other incriminating materials.
Upon interrogation, the arrested individuals admitted to their plan of planting explosives along routes frequently used by security forces for patrolling. The timely operation thwarted a potential attack and reinforced security measures in the insurgency-affected region.
Authorities continue their crackdown on Maoist activities, intensifying surveillance and counter-insurgency operations across Sukma.
