Panaji, February 28 – Four Russian tourists, including three women, were rescued from drowning at Mandrem beach in North Goa after they were caught off guard by sudden high waves, according to Drishti Marine, the state's appointed lifesaving agency.
The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon when the tourists, comprising one man and three women, entered the water unaware of rapidly changing conditions. Unexpectedly high waves surged, quickly turning the waters dangerous and trapping the tourists in distress.
"Lifesavers immediately responded, swiftly rushing into the water with rescue boards and successfully bringing all four tourists safely ashore," a spokesperson for Drishti Marine stated.
Drishti Marine continues to emphasize caution, reminding beachgoers to stay vigilant about changing sea conditions, particularly in areas prone to sudden surges and strong currents.
