Kota, Rajasthan, May 17 – In a significant verdict, a court in Kota has sentenced four individuals, including two brothers, to life imprisonment for the abduction and brutal murder of a 16-year-old boy in 2018.

The Additional Sessions Court also levied a fine of ₹13,500 on each of the convicts.

Murder Over Daughter's Friendship

According to Assistant Public Prosecutor Balram Meena, the case dates back to July 1, 2018, when Nijam alias Nijamuddin (43) abducted Shakib, a 16-year-old student who was reportedly friends with Nijam’s daughter at their coaching institute. Disapproving of this friendship, Nijam, along with his brother Sairaj (35) and associates Lokendra Singh (26) and Aadil (24), lured Shakib to the DCM circle in Kota.

The four men then took Shakib to a secluded area under Udhyog Nagar police station limits, where they assaulted him viciously using iron rods and sticks. Shakib succumbed to his injuries a week later while undergoing treatment.

Convicted Under Kidnapping and Murder Charges

The court found the accused guilty under Sections 364 (kidnapping) and 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code. All four were sentenced to life imprisonment for their roles in the planned abduction and fatal assault on the teenager.

The judgement marks the end of a nearly seven-year legal battle and brings some closure to a case that had shocked the local community.
