New Delhi, May 16—On Thursday, Panic gripped residents of Bihari Colony in East Delhi’s Shahdara after a four-storey building developed a dangerous tilt, prompting immediate action from authorities.
According to officials, the structure began leaning visibly, raising concerns of a potential collapse. In response, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) issued a notice ordering the evacuation of the affected building and surrounding structures as a precautionary measure.
Visuals from the site showed wooden poles being hastily installed to temporarily support the unstable building. A police team from the Farsh Bazar police station has been stationed at the location to ensure public safety and prevent unauthorised access to the danger zone.
“We are requesting everyone to stay away from the area. MCD officials are inspecting the structure and have already pasted a notice to vacate the premises,” said a senior police officer.
The incident has raised concerns over the structural integrity of old buildings in the locality. Further inspections are underway to assess the safety of adjacent constructions.
