Chiba (Japan), May 11 – Indian golfer Gaganjeet Bhullar showcased resilience during the final round of the USD 2 million International Series Japan, carding a one-under 70 despite starting and ending the day with double bogeys. He concluded the tournament tied at 39th place with an overall score of three-under 281.

Fellow Indian SSP Chawrasia, who began and ended his round with birdies, managed a score of 73 on Sunday. With two birdies and four bogeys in the final round, he wrapped up the event at three-over 287, finishing tied-68th.

Bhullar's final round was highlighted by a burst of momentum on the back nine, where he recorded four consecutive birdies from the 13th to the 16th holes. However, early and late double bogeys kept him from climbing higher on the leaderboard.

Meanwhile, Australia’s Lucas Herbert delivered a stunning performance to claim his maiden Asian Tour and International Series title. He closed the final round with a brilliant seven-under-par 64, punctuated by an eagle on the par-five 18th for the second consecutive day, finishing at 20-under for the tournament.

Herbert's victory at the Par-71 Caledonian Golf Club in Chiba came with a commanding five-shot lead over his nearest rivals, Yuta Sugiura and Younghan Song, both of whom shot 69s to finish at 15-under.

American golfer Cameron Tringale finished fourth with a final round of 66, capped by a 15-foot eagle on the last hole to reach 14-under. Thailand’s Atiruj Winaicharoenchai (65) and Japan’s Shunya Takeyasu (67) rounded out the top finishers at 13-under.

With this win, Herbert not only secured a dominant triumph but also surged to the top of both The International Series Rankings and the Asian Tour Order of Merit. This marks his first international title in nearly two years, with his last victory coming at the 2023 ISPS Handa Championship in Japan.
