Chennai, February 14 – The makers of director Arun Matheswaran’s upcoming film ‘DC’, which features acclaimed director Lokesh Kanakaraj as the lead, released a special promo on Saturday, coinciding with Valentine’s Day. In the promo, they revealed that Lokesh Kanakaraj plays a character named Devadas, while Wamiqa Gabbi plays Chandra, and actress Sanjana A K plays Parvathi in the film.
Earlier news agency IANS had reported that, Wamiqa Gabbi plays the female lead in the film, which will mark Lokesh Kanakaraj’s acting debut.
On Saturday, Sun Pictures, the production company, shared the promo on its social media accounts. They wrote, "Love hits harder this Valentine’s Day! The #DC team wishes you all a Happy Valentine’s Day!"
The video, similar to the film's title teaser released last year, appears to lend credibility to rumors that the film will be a gangster drama.
The video opens with Parvathi approaching a microphone but being unable to speak or sing. We then see Chandra applying makeup in what appears to be a brothel. There are scenes showing Devadas and Parvathi having a conversation, with Devadas consoling Chandra. The promo also features some grim visuals, including Devadas slitting the throat of an injured man and severing another man's head. The video ends with Devadas and Chandra escaping in a car.
The film, being produced by Sun Pictures, has generated significant interest, especially because it marks the acting debut of director Lokesh Kanakaraj. It is scheduled to be released this year. The film has dialogues written by Arun Matheswaran and Franklin Jacob, with additional screenplay by Arun Ranjan.
The film's music is by Anirudh, and the cinematography is by Mukesh G. The editing is by G K Prasanna, and the art direction is by Kannan S.
It may be recalled that sources had previously mentioned that Lokesh Kanakaraj had undergone martial arts training for this film. Lokesh had undergone martial arts training in Thailand for this film shortly after directing Rajinikanth's 'Coolie', which was released worldwide on August 14 last year.
