Panaji, Feb 4 (PTI) – In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Goa Police arrested a 45-year-old German national, Sebastian Hesler, after seizing narcotics worth ₹23.95 lakh from his possession in North Goa, an official said on Tuesday.
Hesler, who had been staying in Goa on a tourist visa since November last year, was apprehended following a late-night raid conducted by the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) at his rented accommodation in Small Vagator village. Superintendent of Police (ANC) Tikam Singh Verma confirmed the seizure, which included LSD blot papers, ketamine powder, ketamine liquid, and two kilograms of ganja.
The arrest follows an earlier drug bust in January when ANC officers nabbed Agni Sengupta, a resident of West Bengal, for possessing a commercial quantity of MDMA and a variable amount of cocaine valued at ₹7.5 lakh. Intelligence gathered from Sengupta’s case, along with extensive surveillance, led authorities to Hesler.
After a week-long operation, the ANC raided the German national’s premises late Monday night, successfully intercepting the drug supply. Further investigations are underway to determine potential links to larger drug networks.
This arrest marks another significant step in Goa’s ongoing battle against drug trafficking, as authorities continue to intensify efforts to curb narcotics distribution in the popular tourist destination.
