In a distressing incident reported from Hyderabad, a 22-year-old German national was allegedly sexually assaulted by a local car driver who had offered her a ride on Monday evening, according to police statements on Tuesday.
The victim lodged a formal complaint, alleging that the driver raped her in the rear seat of his car. Following this complaint, the Hyderabad police swiftly registered a case of rape and immediately arranged for the victim's medical examination to substantiate her statement.
Details of the Incident
Police sources confirmed that the victim and her friend, both German nationals, arrived in Hyderabad on March 4 with the intent to visit a friend residing in the city.
On the day of the incident, the two tourists were exploring Hyderabad when a car driver approached and offered them a lift. Initially, several other passengers were also in the vehicle; however, they disembarked later.
Before reaching the Mamidipally area on the outskirts of Hyderabad, the woman's German companion exited the vehicle, leaving her alone with the driver. According to the complaint, she continued her journey towards Mamidipally with the intention of taking photographs around 7:30 PM.
It was during this period that the alleged assault took place, with the victim later informing her friend that she had been raped by the car driver.

Upon receiving the complaint, the Pahadishareef police promptly took action by registering a case and detaining the accused driver for questioning. A senior police official confirmed that the investigation is currently ongoing, with all necessary procedures being undertaken diligently.
