Ghaziabad: Three Kanwariyas Killed, Two Injured in Tragic Road Accident on Delhi-Meerut Expressway

Ghaziabad, Feb 26: In a devastating road accident on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, three Kanwariyas lost their lives, and two others sustained injuries after an SUV crashed into their motorcycles in the early hours of Wednesday, police reported.

According to DCP (Rural) Surendra Nath Tiwari, the victims were traveling from Meerut to Faridabad on two motorcycles when the SUV struck them near the toll tax barrier under the jurisdiction of the Bhojpur police station. The incident took place on the intervening night of February 25-26.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene and transported the injured to a hospital. However, three victims – Devendra, Harendra, and Ajay (all in their mid-thirties) – were declared dead by doctors. The other two, Sunil and Sunder (both around 30 years old), are currently undergoing treatment.

Authorities confirmed that the SUV driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. He has been arrested, and the vehicle has been seized. The deceased's bodies were handed over to their families after post-mortem examination.

Electric Bus Accident Kills Woman and Child, Injures Four in Ghaziabad

In a separate incident on Wednesday afternoon, a tragic road mishap in the Masuri police station area claimed the lives of a 36-year-old woman, Reshma, and a three-year-old girl, Aafia, while injuring four others after an electric bus lost control and collided with a motorcycle and several pedestrians near an underpass.

As per DCP Tiwari, the bus driver lost control of the steering, leading to the crash. The injured victims, identified as Arif and Mustakim (two men) and Ayesha and Mahinoor (two young girls), were taken to the hospital, where they are reported to be in stable condition.

The police have seized the electric bus, and the bodies of the deceased have been sent for autopsy. Investigations into both accidents are ongoing.
