Mumbai, February 26 — Girish Kohli, who recently made his directorial debut with the Sohum Shah-starrer thriller Crazxy, opened up about his cherished experiences working with legendary actress Sridevi during the filming of Mom, a revenge drama he penned in 2017.

In an emotional recollection, Kohli shared that he had hoped to collaborate with Sridevi again, specifically in a comedy film. However, this dream remains unfulfilled following the actress’s untimely death in 2018 at the age of 54.

"She could do anything. The biggest disadvantage was that I did a serious picture with her. But her comic timing was amazing, I could see it. I wish I could make a comedy with her. I didn't have that opportunity," Kohli stated during a recent interview.
Directed by Ravi Udyawar, Mom featured Sridevi in the powerful role of a school teacher who seeks justice after her stepdaughter becomes a victim of sexual assault. The film, which also starred notable actors Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Akshaye Khanna, was praised for its gripping storyline and impactful performances.

Reflecting further, Kohli revealed the late actress’s dedication towards her craft and humility on set. "She gave me a lot of respect. It was my first picture. I was nothing. She used to call me 'sir,' which felt very awkward. She was a very respectful and graceful person. She used to read every line. There are very few people like her. It is a big loss for all of us," he recalled.

Before stepping behind the camera for Crazxy, Girish Kohli earned recognition as a screenwriter for films including Hit: The First Case and Kesari.

Crazxy, which released last Friday, narrates the thrilling journey of Dr. Abhimanyu Sood, portrayed by Sohum Shah, who desperately races against time to rescue his kidnapped daughter. Shah also serves as the producer for the film.
