Mehak Emerges Overall Topper; Girls Secure 61 of 75 Top Ranks
Dharamshala, May 17:Girls once again outshined boys in the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) Class 12 examinations, as 61 of the 75 students on the top-10 merit list were girls, reflecting a continued trend of female academic excellence in the state.
The HPBOSE announced the results on Saturday, with Mehak, a student of St D R Public Senior Secondary School, Gagret in Una district, securing the top position across all streams—science, commerce, and arts. She achieved an impressive 97.2% by scoring 486 out of 500 marks in the science stream.
Two students shared the second overall position with 96.6% marks: Khushi of Dhauladhar Public Senior Secondary School, Sham Nagar (Dharamshala), and Jahnavi Thakur of Bharti Vidyapeeth Public Senior Secondary School, Baijnath.
Stream-wise Toppers
Arts Stream:- 1st: Ankita, Government Senior Secondary School – 96.6% (483/500)
- 2nd: Nirdosh Kumari, New Era School of Sciences, Chhatri (Kangra) – 96%
- 3rd: Jyoti Sharma, Government Senior Secondary School, Jalari (Hamirpur) – 95.8%
- 1st: Payal Sharma, Government Senior Secondary School, Chanour (Kangra) – 96.4%
- 2nd: Shagun, Government Senior Secondary School, Chauki Maniar (Una) – 95.6%
- 3rd: Ananya Thakur, same school – 95.4%
Overall Performance
HPBOSE Chairman and Kangra Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa announced that the overall pass percentage for 2025 saw a significant rise to 83.16%, up nearly 10% from last year's 73.76%.Out of 86,373 students who appeared for the exams held from March 4 to March 29 across 2,300 centres:
- 71,591 students passed
- 5,847 were placed in the compartment
- 8,581 failed
Leaders Congratulate Students
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri congratulated the students for their performance. The CM highlighted that the results are a reflection of the students’ dedication and perseverance, emphasizing the value of commitment to academic goals.Deputy CM Agnihotri praised not only the students but also acknowledged the crucial roles played by teachers and parents in guiding them toward success, calling it a proud moment for the entire state.
