Thiruvananthapuram, May 10 – Approximately 100 grams of gold has reportedly gone missing from the famed Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, prompting a police investigation into the alleged theft.

According to officials from the Fort Police Station, temple authorities discovered that around 12 pavan (roughly 96 grams) of gold was unaccounted for. The missing gold had been stored securely after being used for gold plating work inside the temple.

Police revealed that the gold plating work was last carried out two days ago. The remaining quantity of gold was subsequently stored in a designated locker. However, when workers resumed operations and opened the locker again, they found that about 12 pavan of gold had vanished.

A complaint was immediately lodged by the temple administration, triggering a police probe. Authorities have begun examining CCTV footage from the premises in a bid to identify those responsible for the disappearance.

An official from the Fort Police Station confirmed that an active investigation is underway and efforts are being made to track down the missing gold and determine if foul play was involved.

The Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, known for its historical and religious significance, has previously drawn global attention for its immense treasures and tight security arrangements. This incident has once again raised concerns regarding the security and handling of valuable items within the temple premises.
