New Delhi, February 27: In a significant bust, Customs officials at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) in Delhi have seized gold concealed inside dates from a passenger arriving from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The Customs Department revealed that a 56-year-old Indian man was intercepted on Wednesday based on spot profiling. Upon thoroughly inspecting his baggage, authorities discovered assorted yellow metal cut pieces and a gold chain weighing 172 grams, cleverly hidden inside dates.
The department posted details of the seizure on X, emphasizing its continued vigilance against smuggling attempts. Further investigations are underway.
