State Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Dr. L Murugan, today described fake news and misinformation as a social evil. Launching the "Karmayoga in Action" national media campaign for media personnel in New Delhi, Mr. Murugan emphasized the importance of controlling the spread of fake news and verifying information before sharing it. He stated that people trust Akashvani and Doordarshan for reliable news. He further added that the media and entertainment sector is the fastest-growing economy, generating significant employment. He also noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government has launched several initiatives for the media and entertainment sector.
