February 13, New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the new name for the complex housing the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS), and the Cabinet Secretariat: "Seva Teerth."
Since 2014, the Modi government has been taking consistent steps to move away from symbols of India's colonial past and usher in what it describes as a shift in mindset.
Some of the major changes announced over the years include:
South Block → Seva Teerth
Central Secretariat → Kartavya Bhavan
Rajpath → Kartavya Path
Race Course Road → Lok Kalyan Marg
Raj Bhavans/Raj Niwas → Lok Bhavan/Lok Niwas
This renaming exercise is part of the government's broader effort to replace colonial-era nomenclature with names that reflect Indian values and governance ethos.
