
February 12, Pulwama: A two-day Cluster Level Workshop on “Capacity Building and Handholding Support for Formulation of Quality GPDP – District (Cluster) Pulwama” concluded successfully in Pulwama. The workshop was organized by the National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRDPR), Hyderabad, under the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Government of India.
The program aimed to strengthen the planning capacities of Panchayati Raj Institutions and provide technical support for preparing quality Gram Panchayat Development Plans. The focus was on enhancing grassroots development planning through participatory approaches, effective resource mapping, convergence strategies, and need-based planning to ensure inclusive and sustainable rural development.
During the sessions, experts from NIRDPR discussed various aspects of GPDP formulation, including data-based planning, community participation, sectoral prioritization, and alignment with Sustainable Development Goals. Interactive discussions and practical inputs enabled participants to understand the importance of structured and outcome-oriented planning at the Panchayat level.
Assistant Commissioner Development Pulwama, Abid Iqbal, described the workshop as an effective and impactful training program. He said such capacity-building initiatives are essential for empowering Panchayati Raj Institutions and ensuring the preparation of realistic, transparent, and development-oriented GPDPs. He added that strengthened planning mechanisms at the grassroots level will significantly contribute to the holistic development of rural areas in the district.
The workshop concluded with a renewed commitment from stakeholders to effectively implement the learnings and ensure the preparation of quality GPDPs for the overall progress and prosperity of rural communities in Pulwama district.
