Viral Video Leads to Arrest Under Animal Cruelty Charges​

Noida, May 12 – A man in Greater Noida has been arrested and booked under animal cruelty charges after a disturbing video of a dog being dragged behind an auto-rickshaw went viral on social media, sparking widespread condemnation and outrage.

The accused, identified as Nitin, a resident of Dadha village under the jurisdiction of Kasna police station, was taken into custody on Sunday. The incident came to light after a passerby captured a video showing a dog tied to the back of an auto and being dragged for several metres along the road.

The video quickly circulated online, drawing anger from dog lovers and animal rights activists who demanded immediate action against the pet owner for his negligence.

Police Action and Statement​

Kasna station in-charge Dharmendra Shukla confirmed the arrest, stating, “The dog's owner Nitin was identified from the video. He has been booked under sections pertaining to animal cruelty and arrested on Sunday.”

During questioning, Nitin claimed that he was transporting the dog in the auto when it allegedly fell out without his knowledge, and he continued driving unaware of the situation.

Dog's Condition and Activist's Appeal​

According to police, the dog survived the ordeal and is currently in stable condition. “The dog is in a stable condition. It is fine now,” said Shukla.

Meanwhile, Noida-based animal rights activist Anuradha Mishra has urged for stricter enforcement of laws in such cases. “Strict punishment should be given in dog cruelty cases, because such cases are on the rise,” she stated.

Social Media Outrage Highlights Growing Concern​

The incident has reignited public discourse on animal welfare and the need for stringent legal action against cruelty. Several users on social media called for reforms and heightened vigilance to prevent such cases in the future.
