Mumbai, May 14 — GreenCell Mobility, backed by Eversource Capital, has announced a significant expansion of its electric bus fleet across India, securing Letters of Award (LOAs) for the supply and deployment of 1,222 e-buses in Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh under the PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme.

472 E-Buses for Madhya Pradesh in Partnership with VECV

GreenCell Mobility has partnered with VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV) to supply and operate 472 electric buses across six cities in Madhya Pradesh. The deployment is part of the Central Government’s broader initiative to introduce 10,000 e-buses nationwide to advance India’s public transportation electrification goals.

“We are taking the next step with GreenCell Mobility by introducing Eicher electric buses in their operations under the PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme,” said Vinod Aggarwal, MD and CEO, VE Commercial Vehicles.

750 E-Buses for Andhra Pradesh with EKA Mobility

Simultaneously, the company has joined hands with EKA Mobility to roll out 750 e-buses across 11 cities in Andhra Pradesh, further strengthening its presence in southern India.

Contribution to India's E-Mobility Mission

According to GreenCell Mobility, the PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme, operated through Convergence Energy Services Ltd (CESL), issued a tender for 4,588 electric buses for FY 2024-25. GreenCell’s new contracts mark a major win under this scheme.

The company already operates around 900 e-buses across Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra, and the new additions will significantly expand its footprint.

“These two projects are a major milestone in our mission to transform mass mobility through zero-emission electric buses,” said Devndra Chawla, MD & CEO of GreenCell Mobility. “Backed by strategic partnerships with leading OEMs and a robust financing model, we are committed to making clean, efficient public transportation accessible throughout India's growing cities.”

Charging Infrastructure Development Underway

GreenCell Mobility is also actively developing charging infrastructure to support these large-scale deployments and ensure seamless operations of the new electric fleets across both states.

With this move, GreenCell Mobility reinforces its position as a leading player in India's transition to sustainable and clean public transportation solutions.
