Grok's Sexualized Content Sparks Brazilian Investigation

Grok's Sexualized Content Sparks Brazilian Investigation.webp

February 12, New Delhi — Governments and regulators around the world are taking action against sexually explicit content generated by Elon Musk's xAI chatbot, Grok, on X, launching investigations, imposing bans, and demanding safeguards as part of a growing global effort to curb illegal material.

The latest country to join this effort is Brazil. The South American nation told Elon Musk's social network, X, on Wednesday to stop its chatbot from creating sexually explicit images.

Brazil's chief prosecutor, the National Data Protection Agency, and the National Consumer Rights Bureau stated in a social media post that:

"X must immediately implement appropriate measures to prevent the use of Grok to produce sexualized or eroticized content involving children and adolescents, as well as adults who have not given their consent."

The agencies gave the platform five days to comply with the order or risk legal action and fines.

X claimed it had deleted thousands of posts and suspended hundreds of accounts after Brazil issued a warning last month.

However, investigations by Brazilian authorities revealed that Grok users were still able to generate sexualized deepfakes.

The authorities criticized X for "not being transparent in its response."
