Bandipora-Gurez Road Reopens After 20-Day Closure

The 85-kilometer Bandipora-Gurez road reopened for one-way traffic on Friday after 20 days, allowing light vehicles carrying essential supplies to move towards the Gurez Valley.

February 13, Srinagar: The Border Roads Organisation has cleared the snow from the 85-kilometer Bandipora-Gurez road, restoring limited connectivity after a 20-day closure due to heavy snowfall, officials said.

Following the completion of snow clearance operations, vehicles transporting fresh vegetables and other essential commodities were dispatched to the Gurez Valley.

Authorities have permitted one-way traffic from Bandipora to Gurez. Only light motor vehicles, including Tata Sumo, Scorpio, and Tata Mobile pickups, are allowed to operate. Heavy vehicles are not permitted.

Drivers have been advised to use anti-skid chains while traveling along the route.
