Allahbadia Interrogated by Crime Branch
YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as BeerBiceps, was questioned by the Guwahati Police Crime Branch on Friday regarding controversial remarks he made on the online show 'India's Got Latent'. The interrogation was led by Joint Commissioner Ankur Jain, with Allahbadia accompanied by his advocate during the questioning that lasted several hours.
Nationwide Outrage Over Offensive Comments
Allahbadia’s comments on the show sparked widespread outrage online, prompting multiple FIRs to be lodged against him across India. His controversial remarks, which involved sensitive comments related to parents and sex, drew sharp criticism. Even the Supreme Court, while granting Allahbadia interim protection from arrest, described his remarks as "vulgar," stating that he had a "dirty mind" which shamed society.
Other YouTubers Under Investigation
This interrogation is part of a broader investigation by the Guwahati Police, who had previously questioned another prominent YouTuber, Ashish Chanchlani, on February 27. Chanchlani was granted interim bail by the Gauhati High Court on February 18.
FIR Filed Against Five Individuals
The FIR lodged by Guwahati Police on February 10 named a total of five individuals, including Ranveer Allahbadia and Ashish Chanchlani. Other comedians named in the FIR were Samay Raina, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Makhija. They have been booked under relevant sections of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), the IT Act, Cinematograph Act, and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.
