Los Angeles, March 2: Hollywood legend Harrison Ford will be unable to attend the 97th Academy Awards due to a recent diagnosis of shingles, a painful viral infection also known as herpes zoster.
The 82-year-old actor was scheduled to appear as a presenter at the prestigious event this Sunday. However, a representative confirmed to entertainment news outlet Variety that Ford received his diagnosis on Friday, forcing him to withdraw from the ceremony.
Ford's latest appearance on the big screen is in the film "Captain America: Brave New World". His absence from the Oscars marks a significant loss for fans looking forward to his iconic presence at the awards gala.
According to the Mayo Clinic, shingles is caused by the varicella-zoster virus, leading to a painful rash that usually occurs on one side of the body.
Other renowned presenters confirmed for Oscars 2025 include stars Dave Bautista, Gal Gadot, Andrew Garfield, Samuel L. Jackson, Margaret Qualley, Alba Rohrwacher, Zoe Saldana, and Rachel Zegler.
This year's Oscars ceremony will be hosted by Conan O'Brien and is scheduled to stream live in India via JioHotstar and broadcast on the Star Movies television channel.
