Haryana: 2 criminals killed in exchange of fire in Palwal

Chandigarh, Feb 3 (PTI): In a major crackdown on organized crime, Haryana Police shot dead two criminals associated with the Neeraj Faridpuria gang in an encounter in Palwal district, officials said on Monday.

The deceased, identified as Zorawar and Neeraj, both residents of Rewari district, were carrying a bounty of ₹1 lakh each. They were wanted in multiple criminal cases, including a recent attack on village heads ('Sarpanchs') and others near Maheshpur village last month.

According to police, the encounter took place on Sunday night when a special team intercepted their car near Lalwa village on the Palwal-Nuh road. Sensing danger, the criminals opened fire on the police, prompting retaliation. Despite multiple warnings, they continued shooting, leading to an exchange of gunfire in which both suffered fatal bullet injuries, said Deputy Superintendent of Police (Palwal) Manoj Kumar.

The injured criminals were rushed to the Civil Hospital, where doctors declared them dead on arrival. Police confirmed that they were facing nearly a dozen criminal cases and were active members of the notorious Neeraj Faridpuria gang.

This operation marks a significant success for Haryana Police in their efforts to curb gang violence and organized crime in the region.
