New Delhi, Feb 2 (PTI) – Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini launched a scathing attack on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal over his controversial "Yamuna poisoning" allegation, accusing him of spreading falsehoods for political gain.
Addressing a public gathering in support of BJP's Mundka candidate Gajendra Daral, Saini urged voters to see through what he called Kejriwal’s deceptive tactics. He emphasized that crucial work remained to be done in a limited time ahead of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.
Saini Challenges Kejriwal's Allegation with Live Test
In a bid to counter Kejriwal’s claim, Saini said he personally visited the Yamuna ghat in Palla village, drank the water, and demonstrated that there was no contamination at the source supplied by Haryana."To expose his lies, I took water from the point where Haryana supplies it to Delhi, as well as from the area where Kejriwal claims to provide water to the city. The difference between the two was stark," Saini stated.
Kejriwal's 'Poisoning' Claim Sparks Controversy
On January 27, Kejriwal alleged that the BJP-led Haryana government had deliberately contaminated water being supplied to Delhi through the Yamuna."Thanks to the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) engineers, who detected the issue and stopped the water supply, a major disaster was averted. If that water had mixed with drinking water, a mass genocide could have happened," Kejriwal had claimed.
He accused the BJP of attempting to create chaos in Delhi by tainting the water supply and then blaming AAP for any potential crisis. Following these remarks, the Election Commission issued two notices to Kejriwal based on complaints from the BJP.
Saini Calls AAP Rule a 'Disaster' for Delhi
Denouncing AAP’s governance, Saini asserted that Kejriwal had misled the people of Delhi for a decade with false promises."The AAP government has been a disaster for Delhi. Kejriwal has failed every section of the population and has done nothing except deceive people," he said.
Saini also reminded the audience of Kejriwal’s 2015 promise to clean the Yamuna and provide safe drinking water, stating that conditions had only worsened over the years.
