Haryana CM thanks PM Modi, Vaishnaw for large allocation in Budget for railway projects

New Delhi, Feb 3 (PTI) – Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for a substantial budget allocation aimed at strengthening the state’s railway infrastructure.

According to an official press note, Saini emphasized that the budget will significantly bolster Haryana’s railway network, aligning with the vision of a developed India. He highlighted that enhanced rail infrastructure would improve the quality of life for the state’s residents.

The Union Budget for the financial year 2025-26 has earmarked ₹3,416 crore for railway projects in Haryana—an increase of 11 times compared to the ₹315 crore allocated between 2009 and 2014. Speaking on Haryana’s share in the budget, Railway Minister Vaishnaw underscored that the allocation would propel railway development in the state.

"Since 2014, Haryana has seen the construction of 823 km of railway tracks, which is nearly equivalent to the entire rail network of the United Arab Emirates," Vaishnaw stated during a media briefing in Delhi. He also revealed that 34 railway stations in the state are being upgraded as Amrit stations with an investment of ₹1,149 crore.

The state government noted that CM Saini welcomed the Railway Ministry's initiative to modernize the Faridabad railway station with an outlay of ₹262 crore, alongside the redevelopment of the Gurugram railway station.

Providing further details, the Railway Minister disclosed that work is currently in progress on 14 new railway tracks in Haryana, with a total expenditure of ₹15,875 crore planned for laying 1,195 km of new railway lines.

The official statement further highlighted that between 2014 and 2025, Haryana's railway infrastructure has seen rapid progress. During this period, 121 railway tracks were electrified, and 534 railway flyovers and underbridges were constructed.

Additionally, the Union Budget has allocated ₹398 crore under the Kavach project for railway modernization, a move that CM Saini deeply appreciated.

“Haryana has also secured connectivity with five Vande Bharat Express trains, and currently, Wi-Fi facilities have been installed at 144 railway stations across the state,” the statement added.

This substantial investment is expected to enhance Haryana’s connectivity and bolster its economic growth by providing better railway infrastructure.
