Chandigarh, February 10 The Haryana government has transferred IPS officer Maqsood Ahmed, currently serving as DCP (NIT), Faridabad, with immediate effect.

He has been posted as SP, Police Headquarters, Panchkula, according to official orders.

This transfer comes shortly after a collapse at the Surajkund fairgrounds in Faridabad, in which a police inspector died while attempting a rescue, and 12 others were injured. Two individuals were arrested on Sunday in connection with the incident, even as the opposition blamed the government's negligence for the tragedy.

In addition to the transfer orders of the IPS officer, the state government has also transferred Suresh Kumar, a Haryana Police Service officer.

Kumar, currently a DSP in the 2nd Battalion, India Reserve Battalion, Nuh, has been transferred and posted as DSP, Hodal (Palwal), to fill a vacant position.

The transfer orders for both police officers were issued by the government on Monday.
