Gurugram, Feb 2 (PTI) – Haryana Education Minister Mahipal Singh Dhanda reaffirmed the state government's commitment to swiftly implementing the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020, directing officials to ensure its seamless execution. Speaking at an event in Jharsa’s Chotu Ram Model Public School on Sunday, Dhanda highlighted the education department’s priority—holistic development of every student in the state.

The function was organized to mark the 144th birth anniversary of Deenbandhu Sir Chhotu Ram, a towering figure in India’s history known for his relentless efforts towards the welfare of farmers and marginalized communities.

Chhotu Ram’s Legacy and Educational Vision

Praising Sir Chhotu Ram’s contributions, Dhanda emphasized his historic role in advocating for the rights of the oppressed. “As Revenue Minister, he ensured justice for debt-ridden farmers and took revolutionary decisions for their upliftment,” Dhanda remarked.

Underlining the importance of character-building education, he asserted, "We should not just create degree holders but also shape individuals with strong moral values who can secure employment based on their skills. Children must be taught about the lives of such great personalities, inspiring them to contribute to nation-building."

₹21 Lakh Grant for Educational Development

In a major announcement, Dhanda pledged a ₹21 lakh grant to the Sir Chhotu Ram Society to support educational initiatives. This move aligns with the government’s vision to strengthen Haryana’s academic landscape and equip students with skills essential for the future.

Gurugram MLA Highlights MSP Initiative for Farmers

Speaking at the event, Gurugram MLA Mukesh Sharma underscored Sir Chhotu Ram’s emphasis on education and farmer welfare. He lauded the Minimum Support Price (MSP) implementation on 24 crops, a policy initiated under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, aimed at boosting farmers' prosperity.

With the Haryana government actively pushing forward NEP-2020 and prioritizing educational reform, this event served as a significant reminder of the need to blend historical inspiration with modern education, ensuring a brighter future for the youth.
