Haryana Police Arrest One Suspect in Congress Worker Himani Narwal Murder Case

Rohtak, Haryana | March 3, 2025: Haryana Police announced on Monday the arrest of one accused linked to the shocking murder of Congress party worker Himani Narwal, whose body was discovered stuffed in a suitcase on Saturday in Rohtak.

Following the grim discovery, Haryana Police swiftly formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to expedite the probe. Confirming the arrest, a police official stated, "We have arrested one accused and further investigations are ongoing." However, the police have not yet disclosed the identity of the suspect.

Family Seeks Justice, Demands Capital Punishment

Narwal’s family has refused to cremate her remains, insisting they will wait until all culprits involved are apprehended. Her mother, Savita Narwal, demanded capital punishment, emphasizing her relentless pursuit of justice. Speaking to media in Rohtak, Savita said, "I want capital punishment for the killers of my daughter."

When questioned about her acquaintance with the arrested individual, Savita remarked, "I have heard his name but don't know him personally. Many people would meet my daughter during party events; she had numerous friends and colleagues due to her long association with Congress."

Rising Star in Haryana Congress

Congress leaders described Himani Narwal as a dedicated and dynamic member of the party, actively involved in significant campaigns, including Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra. At the time of her death, Narwal was also pursuing a law degree, highlighting her ambition and potential.

Narwal’s mother earlier alleged that envy within the party could have been a possible motive, stating, "It could be anyone jealous of her rapid rise or someone else entirely." Her last conversation with Himani was on February 27, after which her phone went unreachable.

Party Leaders Demand Swift Justice

Senior Congress leader and former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has urged Rohtak Police and the state government to ensure rapid justice for Narwal’s grieving family. Congress MLA from Rohtak, B.B. Batra, also voiced strong condemnation, describing Narwal as a "very good and active" member, calling for severe punishment of those involved.

The investigation continues as the authorities work to unravel the circumstances behind this tragic incident, intensifying public demand for justice in Haryana.
