New Delhi, Feb 2 (PTI) – Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra launched a fierce counterattack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi after he accused Sonia Gandhi of insulting President Droupadi Murmu. She dismissed the controversy as a diversion from real issues such as inflation and unemployment, calling the attempt to turn it into an election issue an insult to the struggles of ordinary Indians.
Speaking at a public meeting in Seemapuri, Priyanka Gandhi did not hold back, labeling Modi and AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal as "crybaby leaders" and "bigger cowards" than she had ever seen. She accused both of being subservient to big industrialists, claiming they prioritize corporate interests over the needs of the common people.
Defending Sonia Gandhi’s Remarks
Priyanka Gandhi slammed Modi for targeting her mother, saying the Prime Minister deliberately misrepresented Sonia Gandhi's comments on President Murmu. A viral video showed Sonia Gandhi discussing Murmu’s long speech, expressing concern that the President might have been tired."One elderly woman was simply sympathizing with another elderly woman," Priyanka Gandhi said. "And they turned this into an election issue, ignoring the real struggles of people—rising prices, unemployment, pension delays, and the hardships of sanitation workers."
She urged people to demand accountability from leaders, questioning why national conversations were being dominated by manufactured controversies rather than pressing economic and social issues.
Attacking Modi and Kejriwal’s Governance
In a scathing attack on Modi and Kejriwal, Priyanka Gandhi compared them, saying both blame others for their failures.- "Modi always blames Nehru for work left undone, and Kejriwal blames Modi for his own failures," she said. "I haven't seen such crybaby leaders and cowards in my life."
- She recalled how her father, Rajiv Gandhi, used to interact directly with people and accept criticism. "Can anyone even question Modi today without risking jail time?" she asked.
She further accused Modi of being disconnected from the people, stating that he is only visible during elections. "Where was he during COVID? Did he check on the people dying on the streets? He only appears for polls and spends the rest of his time traveling abroad, shaking hands with world leaders."
"The Constitution is Your Shield"
Priyanka Gandhi emphasized the importance of protecting the Constitution, calling it the "shield that grants equality, reservations, and democratic rights". She warned that the day people wake up, Modi and his allies won’t last long in power. At another rally in Babarpur, she criticized Modi’s handling of the economy, mocking his self-congratulatory approach. "During the Budget session, they made minor tax changes, and Modi was beating the desk in celebration. Let others clap for your work if it’s actually meaningful!"
Blasting Kejriwal’s AAP and BJP’s Business Ties
Taking a dig at Kejriwal’s clean-image politics, she reminded voters of the Delhi liquor scam. "Beware of those who claim 'I am honest and everyone else is a thief'. Kejriwal did the same, and look what happened," she said. She also accused Modi of favoring industrialists like Adani and Ambani, handing over national resources to corporate giants while ignoring ordinary citizens' needs.
A Message to Voters: Demand Accountability
Priyanka Gandhi urged the public to "teach leaders a lesson" by demanding answers on road conditions, traffic congestion, and pollution instead of falling for political distractions. With Delhi gearing up for elections, her direct and aggressive attack on both Modi and Kejriwal signals a strong Congress campaign, focusing on governance failures rather than ideological debates.
As the political battle intensifies, it remains to be seen how Modi and Kejriwal respond to Priyanka Gandhi’s sharp criticism. Will they address the issues she raised, or will the war of words escalate further?
