Duttapukur (WB), Feb 3 (PTI) – The discovery of a headless body in a remote field in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district has sent shockwaves through the region. The gruesome find was reported on Monday morning in the rural Jagtulia area of Barasat-1 block, police said.

Authorities revealed that the young man's torso bore deep injury marks, suggesting a violent death. Initial investigations indicate that the victim was forced to consume alcohol before being murdered, as empty liquor glasses were found at the scene.

The brutality of the crime has left the community on edge. The victim’s hands and feet were bound using his own T-shirt, and his legs bore burn marks, with police detecting a strong smell of kerosene in the vicinity.

Local residents, who stumbled upon the body, immediately informed law enforcement. Shocked by the crime, they claimed such incidents were unprecedented in the area, raising concerns over safety.

Police are actively investigating the case, working to establish the victim’s identity and uncover the motive behind the killing. The incident has heightened tensions in the region as authorities intensify their probe.
