Heat Wave Alert in Andhra Pradesh: APSDMA Flags 26 Mandals at Risk

Amaravati, April 1 — The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) has issued a heat wave warning for 26 mandals across the state on Tuesday, urging residents to take necessary precautions as temperatures continue to soar.

Districts on High Alert​

APSDMA Managing Director R Kurmanadh stated that the heat wave is expected to impact several areas, with the following distribution:
  • Vizianagaram – 6 mandals
  • Srikakulam – 6 mandals
  • Parvathipuram Manyam – 10 mandals
  • Alluri Sitaramaraju – 3 mandals
  • East Godavari – 1 mandal
These regions are expected to experience extreme heat conditions throughout the day.

Temperature Soars Above 40°C in Several Districts​

The temperature in parts of Andhra Pradesh breached the 40°C mark on Monday. According to APSDMA data:
  • Gospadu (Nandyala district) recorded the highest temperature at 40.3°C
  • Kammarachedu (Kurnool district) followed closely at 40.2°C
  • Nagasamudram (Anantapur district) logged 40°C

Advisory for Residents​

APSDMA has urged people residing in the affected mandals to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, stay hydrated, and take precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses.
